Hmm, As I haven't worked out quoting yet it's a bit of a poor way to write
messages, but with the \0361 ocatl bizzo in runscript, I was looking
through the man page going "What could I have done wrong!" and
the idea simply clicked with me.  I read it enough times that it filtered
through into the skull about the real nature of things.

Also, with the CRC problem, I was pretty sure I'd kept to the original
strings, because I'd originally had for the BBS name "Devil for
Minicom" but when I got to the point of having to enter the CRC, I
went "Oh dear, I can't calculate my own!" I went through and
changed all the strings back to how they were in the original SIMPLE.SLT.

Anyway, enough for now.
