DB> Just few ideas ------
DB> Got an Navistar dealer (IHC--International Harverster) as they used a
DB> lot of
DB> u-joints in thier steering systems. Also you may want to try going to
DB> Farm
DB> tractor dealers as those people also used many differnent type of U-
DB> joints in
DB> farm tractors. Infact I beleive GM used some also in the bread vans as
e
DB> called them in service (USAF) IE the square cube vans and such, so that
Tried all the tractor, semi tractor and step van joints. Ford made this
smaller on purpose. I've since made some bushings from broze door hinge
bushings made by Dorman.
DB> PS. spent 4 years there in Chanute 1963-67. Also went back several
DB> times for
DB> schooling as I managed to do 30 years all together 4 active 26 in WIS-Air
DB> Guard.
DB> I drove through there this spring and you wouldn't believe it. NO fences,
DB> guard
DB> shacks most all of the mounted birds are gone and of all things they cut
DB> a road
DB> around on the back ro south side where the housing was. If you spent any
DB> time
DB> there drive back some time just to see the changes.
I spent a year from 82 to 83 for missile school, then from 85 to 93 to teach
the same school as an instructor. I left when out school (Grissom Hall, P-3)
shut down. I also taught basic electronics in White Hall for some time. I may
get back there when I help my dad move later next year, but I really don't
miss the place.
I retired last year from the USAF, now I have time for myself.
