On my steering, etween SD> RB> the bottom end of the steering column and the input of my steering SD> RB> gear is a shaft with a universal type joint on the column side and a SD> RB> ball type joint on the gear side (with a rubber boot). The universal SD> RB> is shot, giving me sloppy steering (4-6" on the steering wheel of SD> RB> play). The whole shaft comes off the end of the column side with a keeper bolt that runs thru the universal and a groove in the spline in the column shaft, then slips off like a universal on an automatic transmission (on a car). The ball joint on the gear side is similar. SD> SD> RB> listed as "obsolete" (latin for go buy a new truck). The weird part SD> SD> Probably be the same for mine.
