HWR> On the subject of Home office, I would like to know how people

LMC> You need an office or work area that is off limits to anything

You didn't say too much about your situation. Do you have your
home office in a separate room, or do you share the room like
bedroom, kitchen, etc. That is an important part of the puzzle.
You have to separate home and office just like you where going
to work in an office building downtown.
You can dissuade your family from interrupting you during business
hours by keeping your door closed, developing a system of signals
that indicate if you are available or not (it could be as simple as
a sign like the once you see on shop windows that same "Open" on one
side and "Closed" on the other) barring any emergencies of course.
At the same time set aside a period in your schedule for your family
at the same sign every day (i.e. 2am in the morning! ;)
Of course it helps if you keep a 9 to 5 schedule in order to enforce
this (if your business allows for this)...with the odd night of
overtime as it is required.
