My suggestion is to slit (slot ??) the film and poke it through the hinge
line from the bottom so that the "poked-through" portions can be anchored
down on the top side of the surface - then overlap the film covering on
the surface top so that it covers the sealed-down film portions extending
from the bottom. This is the way I re-cover after repairs when I can't
remove the hinges - frequently the hinges are stressed or damaged, then I
cut them out and replace them. Is my explanation clear ??? Good luck.
