The 49ers traded Rob Ferrara to the Jets for saying:
RF> All three of the interceptions were terrible passes. If the
RF> receiver is not standing still, Shuler misses them.
Come on, Rob, which is it? First it's the passes that were missed that were
bad and now it's those AND the interceptions.
RF> It counts though. The interim coach here did not have that
 RF> happen.
He didn't deserve a chance, either.
RF> But they have, Ed. They've given Ray Rhodes, Tony Dungy, and
 RF> Dennis Green chances.
After a HELL of a lot longer wait (Rhodes - 14 years, Green 13 years and
Dungy 15 years). A lot of white coaches (current or let loose in the past
couple of years) had a hell of a lot less experience when they were given
their first job.
RF> Last year, the trend was to get a coach that's been a head coach in
 RF> the NFL.
Last year, as in most years, the trend was to go with the "safe white guy."
RF> I expect that trend to continue.
It hasn't changed in years. Frankly, I was shocked to see Dungy get a job
because I felt that he had to wait for one of the blacks to be fired so it
would free up one of the designated darkey spots but I guess that Tampa got
tired of waiting for the axe to fall on Green.
RF> Mike Holmgren is always going to get the lion's share of the credit
RF> for the Pack's offensive success.
Strange how that wasn't true before, during and after the Super Bowl. Lewis'
accomplishments were being sung by people in and out of the organization and
still, they wouldn't wait for the game to be over to give him an interview
(But that didn't keep Norv Turner or Dave Wannstedt from getting interviews
after Dallas won Super Bowls. Seems that they'll wait for a couple of white
coaches).
