-> Problem is, it won't idle worth a spit. It's got the original OS 4BK
arb,
-> ya know, the big-bore carb like the more modern SF and FX series.
-> It's a ringed engine, and if you turn it by hand, there's little
-> compression. Once at speed, though, it's a terror... this thing
erticaled
-> my Trainer Forty (Great Planes - about 6 lbs) for a distance, but it won't
-> idle! I've been told ringed engines don't make compression till they're
-> running -- sounds fishy, I used to have a Honda 80cc four
I've found over the years.. big bore carbs have poor fuel draw at low RPM.
ou
could try one of those Perry oscilating pumps, or good old fashion muffler
pressure. Be sure the tank position isn't too low in relation to the needle
valve.
As for compression... THis is true.. ringed engines will act as they have now
compression, flipping over slowly by hand. ABC engines get that noticable POP
on TDC, because theyy are made to be tight, cold... and as they get hot, work
to the proper piston cylinder fit.
Anyone have any other thoughts.
ps: try a fuel with pure castor.. like Fox fuel. It may help.
