KM> Is it possible to change the default to ALL *.*?
The short answer is: No!
The long answer is:
Microsoft believes that extensions have the purpose of defining the type
of the file (since they published the file system of DOS and its
successors, they probably are right). Therefore it is most logical that
Word initially only shows Word files (*.doc).
Unfortunately WordPerfect has been pushing the idea that one could use
the file name extension to reflect the contents of a file (*.ltr, *.fax,
*.rep) or use it to count versions.
