Let's pause a moment to look at the overview of this thread.
August 24, Jan Southon to All
Request for "where I can get some reliable information" about the "History of
Word Processing." [Whereas, according to Rule No. 1 shown in the previous
message this message in and of itself is off-topic, I let it go as the
bandwidth would not be that great. She was only asking for sources, not for
the information itself. Please note that the rules do not specify this is an
echo for word processing, but for the discussion of MS_WORD. If her initial
request had of been for the history of MS_WORD, it would have been directly
in accordance with the rules of the echo.]
August 26, Pervez Mehta to Jan Southon
"Don't forget to put it up in this 'Conference.'" He also suggested checking
with Microsoft.
September 2, Me (Lawrence Kellie, Moderator) to Pervez Mehta
"Since you are not the moderator, it is not your place to counsel what to
post here."
September 4, Jigal van Hemert to Lawrence Kellie, Moderator
Took umbrage to my September 2 response to Pervez. Countered the moderator's
decision.
September 5, Pervez Mehta to Lawrence Kellie, Moderator
Sorry. [Note, Pervez accepts the moderator decision, however, he appears not
to be clear with what I meant.]
September 7, Lawrence Kellie to Pervez Mehta.
You misunderstood. This is what I meant.
September 14, Jan Southon to Pervez Mehta.
Thanks Pervez for the suggestion to check with Microsoft. Lawrence thought I
was a he. [Appears to have a little confusion on my counsel to Pervez.]
September 17, Lawrence Kellie to Jan Southon
Apology for thinking she was a he. Reiterated that it is not Pervez's place
to suggest or order what to write in the echo.

I see that you got caught by the name "Jan" just as I did.
No, the response is not childish. Pervez is not the moderator. He cannot
state what someone else should post or not post. It is a statement of fact.

The original poster did NOT ask a MS_WORD related question NOR a question
within the boundaries of this echo. As I noted above, if the question had of
been asking for information about the history of Microsoft Word, then it
would be echo specific. However, since it was asked in the very general way
that it was, it is not. Further, it really doesn't matter how many echos she
posted her request in. Different echos have different rules. This one is
MS_WORD specific.

Thank you.
Please note that in your message, you have argued with the decision of the
moderator, which is breaking rule No. 5. Please take asny further discussion
to netmail. I will be more than happy to discuss to your heart's content.

Moderator, MS_WORD
