I am writing this message to say that my children are half aboriginal
and I got them involved with the powwow circle 3 years ago, I have two
daughters in law, Stacey comes from the Big Cove first nation, and
Melissa comes from Fort Alexander, my children are Cree and Blackfoot,
we all have our names, clans and colours, and that includes myself.  I
have a terrific spirit mom who gave me my name,clan and colours, and I
am very loyal to our aboriginal community, unfortunately for me, I am
born white.  But I pray to our creator the same way all the nations do
by smudging, my family and I all dance at powwows and I am very proud of
my grandchildren and my children when they dance and I am also very
proud to be a dancer to.  It doesn't make you any less a person no
matter how much native blood you have or how little, as in the creators
eyes we are all equal.  We have a medicine wheel for a reason, all the
nations rep.  the powwows explain that, we are to love everyone. And
that should be remembered.  Yes there may not be as many full bloods out
there but even the metis are good people.  Be proud of who you are and
teach us all that the creator loves everyone. I tell my family to hold
their heads high even though they aren't full bloods, but i don't expect
them to disrespect me because I'm white, and they don't.  Even the elder
who gave me my name loves and shows me her love
