All of them have their good points and bad. I have used monocote with
success but when painting I prefer coverite. The last batch I bought was
almost clear with a definite fabric texture. On an older ship it looks like
canvas and with a couple of extra coats it looks like metal. What are you
building. If you want to dress it up with multicoloured coverings you need a
smooth surface.
For paint I am still using Autofinishes. They are very expensive and not
very forgioving when you crack a finished Job, but for me its easy to get
them and I have a multitude of hobbies that require paint.
