Word typically expects the files to be .wpg? (I think. Something like that
anyways. A compressed bit-map).
I simply open up an application that does support the .jpg format and copy
the picture to the clip-board. Then go back to Word and simply paste it in).
.JPG has been around for a long time and is liked because of the small file
sizes it can save images in.
