Frank -

When you use config, are you specifying that you want the 40 and 80 track
drives that have DS (double sides). Also, in those disk descriptors, is the
number of sides set up to 2?

If you don't have it, grab the 'dmode' utility here in either DL9 or DL10.
It'll tell you (and us) a lot about your disk setup.
