Don't be put off if at first the people you contact seem less than 
enthusiastic about your offers to volunteer; nowadays they tend to be 
inundated with less-than-sincere people who show up a few times then vanish 
when it becomes clear that volunteer work in indian organizations is real 
work, not sitting around learning ancient wisdom from the elders. So 
ometimes
the organizers get a little jaded.
