Let's face it -- if the various Native nations had united against
the European settlers instead of remaining Balkanized, they wouldn't
have lost their lands and so many of their people.
And my great-grandfather wouldn't have had one white parent.
What's important today is that we work toward preventing this kind
of thing from happening again and to restore as much of what has
been lost via treaty violations as possible.
