Hello Jonathan !
JF> It would probably be a pure-gaming console, not the "do-everything"
JF> type that the CDi tried to be. That was its failure; in attempting
JF> to do it all, it became master of none. There was always a better
JF> choice in a given area; if you were a gamer, you chose a Nintendo or
JF> Sega console (no Sony for most of the CDi's lifespan); if you were
JF> interested in reference material and family entertainment, you chose
JF> a PC. Heck, if you were a gamer, you might have chosen the PC as
 JF> well. :-)
Do you have the 'Netstation' over there ?
Its just been launched here at 299ukps and is a set top internet box, which
displays on your TV, plus 15ukps a month [not including cost of the
phonecalls !] for access to the Internet.
I can't see /that/ catching on, especially when most existing ISPs only
charge about half that per month for full access.
I think it is a 486 PC in a box from reviews I have read.
JF> Well, not ALWAYS. FF7 and a few other games use MIDI. But they are
                                                                 ^^^^
You mean the makers of FF7 ? Or Sony. :)
JF> well-known for getting high-quality music into games. Of those,
JF> Wipeout XL is the most recognizable, since it had major electronica
JF> groups on one CD. The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk AND Prodigy on
JF> one CD? That's too much!
Its fantastic ! Especially seeing as you can get it as part of the Platium
budget range for about 15-20ukps, thats like only 5ukps more than a regular
music CD album [the Tax on CDs over here is immense !] with the game thrown
in too :) Great stuff. I want a PS, I want a PS !
