First I have to dig through that tutorial again to learn more about file
access (opening, reading, writing, closing, etc.)  A set of programs I
wrote that worked just fine with my old printer put out a big mess with my
new printer, and I'm gathering that I'm in for a bit of work (as well as a
learning curve) to fix it.
