| subject: | DOSBOX/2 question. |
On reading the thread on DOSBOX for OS/2 I have another question about it.
I think this echo might be more on-topic for it.
Can this tool provide the equivalent of a DOS-VDM session which can be run
as a windowed session in OS/2 that also has the ability to extend DOS
'regular' memory up into the 600K-700K range by making the graphics
equivalent to 16 color mode? When you do this with a 'standard' OS/2
DOS-VDM session or set it to monochrome graphics, you can extend the basic
memory for low memory use up as far as even 729K in some systems.
And that said, can you get assignable XMS and EMS upper memory use as well?
Now on a cross platform question here too..
Since DOSBOX can be run in LINUX or under various incantations of WIN-later
versions, can you also get the higher memory availability and the XMS-EMS
memory in those platforms as well?
Thanks!
--> Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;)
