My friend and I send each other formatted word documents. I use Word for
Windows 6.0 on my ancient 486 and she uses Word 95. I would strongly prefer
for us to save the documents with a password, so that when we transmit them
on the Internet, they are not easily caught and read.
However I cannot work out any way for the one who composes the Word 95
document to save it as a Word 2.0 and for the password requirement to be
transmitted too. All that happens is that the document is saved as a Word 2.0
and when I try to open it, I have no problem - no password is needed.
The Microsoft utility to allow Word 95 documents to be read by Windows
2.0/6.0 versions specifically states that passwords are not enabled. I would
prefer not to have to go to a program such as Pretty Goood Privacy.
Does anyone have any suggestions please?
