The 24 hour connection will be easy, assuming you are allocated a subnet of
IPs rather than a single IP.

Have you got pppd working yet? I can show you a simple script that will
automatically dial your ISP and redial if the connection drops.

Mine is of a similar size.

Sorry, I have no idea, never used a CDROM with FreeBSD...
