On 06-07-97 JOHN TAYLOR got involved with this...
JT>I've recently aquired a Word v2.0 in the box. Can I obtain an
JT>upgrade, say to v6. ( or higher if possible ) and add to the v2.0
JT>without the other versions in between ?
John, Yes, because 6 is the number after 2 :)
Word 2 was called Word for Windows ver 2 it was the second attempt at a
Windows based wordprocessor.
Meanwhile MS had taken Word for DOS to version 5. I think DOS was
abandoned at this point. To celebrate they called the next Word for
Windows ver 6! Actually Word Perfect at the time was at 6's and 7's so
MS used any excuse to catch up.
Make sense?
The Word Versions are 2, 6, 95, 97. Get 2a, 6c, if you can.
BTW, 95 is sometimes called ver 7
