JB> I tried a test, using Word95. I opened a word document (just
JB> over three pages, all text, 12-point Times Roman), then saved it
JB> in RTF format. The RTF version wound up considerably smaller:
JB> Document.doc 19,456
JB> Document.rtf 12,445

Interesting. However, I have heard that the size of *.doc may be
large because it is carrying all of the previous versions as well.
You might try importing the rtf document and saving as a new name (or
perhaps any save-as of a *.doc would strip out all of the updates, not
sure).
Another question might be -- what is the effect of graphics (table
lines etc).
