The info in my previous msg came from a newspaper article about the
problem, and Microsoft's fix. The author states that "... the [RTF]
document may be missing some of the formatting put in by the Word97
user." He makes no mention of relative file sizes. However...
I tried a test, using Word95. I opened a word document (just over
three pages, all text, 12-point Times Roman), then saved it in RTF
format. The RTF version wound up considerably smaller:
Document.doc 19,456
Document.rtf 12,445
... 100 years makes an antique. Buy a computer, have one in a week.
