DS> When I want to go from O97 to Word 6.0, a straight save does not
DS> work ... I do a SAVE AS into Word 6.0/95.
DS> However -- when I go to read that file into Word 6.0, it is
DS> converted from Rich Text Format. Why is it in that and not in Word
DS> 6.0??
JB> This was intentional, according to Microsoft, because "RTF is a
JB> universal format that can be read by nearly any word processor,
JB> even those not made by Microsoft," and "RTF is not susceptible
JB> to some viruses that can infect 'Word' files."
JB>
JB> Microsoft has released free "converter" programs that fix this.
JB> You can get them from their web site (http://www.microsoft.com).
Thanks for that info. I'll take a look at that site. Do you know if
there is any loss of info in RTF versus Word 6.0 or 7.0? How about
disk space (bigger or less?).
