Hello again Fred. I have just finished doing everything you had mentioned
in your previous message. I downloaded the qmpro.pdf file off of the
mustang bbs, put it in my qmpro directory and configured qmodem accordingly.
As per par for the course, nothing different happened. The screen tells
me that it is in Terminal mode, but nothing appears on the screen when
I type letters. So, I went to Half Duplex, and now see letters appear on
the screen, but again nothing happens. I issue an AT command and nothing
comes on the screen, especially the familiar OK sign from the modem. I have
tried all the com port settings with different IRQ settings without any
success. When I go to the phone book and pick a number to dial, nothing
happens, it just says dialing so and so bbs, and the timer just keeps on
ticking.
I am using a Pentium 166 system with Win 95 operating system, like I had
mentioned before. Now, would the modem being a PNP type make a difference?
It is a Supra 28800 PNP modem. The terminal program that I use in Win95
is called Bitcom, by Cheyenne Bitware. The program works great, but I
have become accustom to using my Qmpro program.
If you have any suggestions I sure would be VERY willing to listen. I had
saved qmpro to disk when I sold my old 286 machine, and aparently, the
disk I saved it to is bad. When unzipping the program, I had errors in
all of the following files: ANSIPAT.EXE CONFIG.HLP DORWAY.EXE DWCOMM.EXE
DWHOST.COM DWHOST.OVR and QMGATE.EXE. I beleive all these files are
dealing with the HOST mode, which seems to work anyway. Could any of
these files have anything to do with the whole program not working good?
Sorry Fred for the long drawn out letter, but I am at my wits end with
trying to figure out this program. It worked excellent on my old 286
without any problems what so ever. However, I was using a ZOOM 14400
modem then. Well, guess I have talked your head off enough. Will be
waiting for your reply.
Take care
