There 2D. I've duplicated the Tecqnique. Ask any one that has created custum 
monsters from scratch. THe trick is that they make multiple imiges of the 
creature and when you rotate the imige changes accordingly. The older games 
like Doom and Wolf3d had one for each side. THe newer stuff uses MANY more 
imiges to provide a 3D effect. It takes up considerably less room than Having 
the computer remember the exact position of thousands of polygons and how 
each one rects too eachother. As for the paper cut out bit. I'll agree some 
times while dancing around you will see holes and such but then I have yet to 
see a game provide perfect polygons.
