To: Bob Lawrence,

Replying to a message of Bob Lawrence to Jeff Green on 29/05/97:

JG>> Windows if fairly insignificant in the network world at the
JG>> moment. And yes, I've seen the figures of 156% growth in NT
JG>> sales last year. 156% of what though?

BL> It seems to me that business has decided that Win95/6 is such a
BL> hassle over Win31 that they may as well go the whole hog with NT.

It's begining to take off. The 3rd fixpak for WinNT has been released. It's
an 18 megabyte download :-) I wonder if Brenton will try this one
considering what happened to him with the 2nd fixpak.

BL> Fido was set up to save time online; the Internet is developing the
 BL> other way.

True.

BL> Even so, offline mail has other advantages. I really can't see a point
BL> in typing live... that's why God invented telephones. I used to do that
BL> back in the 50's when tetetype was really hot stuff state of the art.

I like offline news/mail as it allows me to go back and change some of my
messages after I've calmed down ie I don't piss people off nearly as much
as I would either online or face-to-face.
