To: Frank Malcolm KR> yes didn't she come across well on "38 minutes" (: BL> I don't watch it. Ballykissangel is much more informative and BL> has better journalists. FM> Yeah, unfortunately it just died. But at least Henry Crabbe is FM> back as the replacement. Carna Pies! (in the sky) I didn't watch it. Bloody ABC! Ballykissangel just stopped, and when I found they had changed it I threw the TV set out the window in disgust. Well... that's what I wanted to do, anyway. BL> I am constantly amazed at how quickly politicians lose the BL> plot. Johnnie had the perfect opportunity for a double BL> dissolution last November. He had a 40-seat majority, 80% BL> public appproval after the gun-nut episode, and three triggers BL> (Telstra, Industrial relations and I foget the other one). I BL> was telling everyone what a genius he was! FM> That bloke at Longreach got it right. Totally polite, thank you FM> for coming Prime Minister etc, etc. But we elected you as the FM> boss, and bosses make *decisions*. And then he sat down. Yes... and I liked the bushie who stood up told him to his face that he had driven there to tell him he just didn't believe him. I despair of Oz politics... and now Kim Beazley has started bursting into tears! Are they all neurotic? I think I preferred psychotic Paul Keating. Or Hitler. FM> As someone commented to me tonight, little Johnny could hardly FM> talk from the saliva bubbles sticking his lips together. It's sad. I watched him take Keating apart in Parliament by laughing at him, I saw him showing real leadership in the gun-nut episode, and I thought for a moment we had a genuine leader, at last! Now, after a year: balance of payments is worse, unemployment is worse, debt is the same, dollar is down 10%, the business of running the country is more fucked than ever... and he is talking GST. Jeesus! Aand apologising to fucking Abos! For what? For what was universally accepted as a good, moral thing to do at the time it was done, 40 years ago! The next election is going to be very interesting. I think the electorate is disillusioned with Johnnie Arsehole, it is still too close to Keating to turn back to Labor, and Democrats belong to another era (the 70s). I put Pauline in with a real chance. Regards, Bob ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12 @EOT: ---* Origin: Precision Nonsense, Sydney (3:711/934.12) SEEN-BY: 711/934 712/610 @PATH: 711/934 |
