To: Bob Lawrence,
Replying to a message of Bob Lawrence to Jeff Green on 28/05/97:
JG>> The important part would be the "To: first [middle] last From:"
JG>> part.
BL> It would be better to use a separator before From: or the program
BL> would be confused by triple names and hyphens. But in any case it's
BL> only the To: we need.
I figured that whatever was after the To: and before the From: would be the
name regardless of how many separate words are there.
BL> Exactly! I meant a To: line in the header. UUCP allows 'X-" lines in
BL> the header, and X-Comment-To: already exists. Does Watergate know
BL> about it?
No it doesn't seem to. Here's a copy of a message I'm going to send to the
author. Let me know if you think it needs changing:
>>
Would it be possible to have Watergate put an "X-Comment-To:"
(followed by the persons name) header in messages gated from Fido echoes to
UUCP newsgroups? This is based on the To: line in the message in the fido
message base (Squish in my case).
A lot of the uucp users would like the X-Comment-To: header as a way of
quickly scanning for personal mail. We'll take care of the "personal
mail scanning" utilities making sense of the header line if you could
put it in please.
I also copy this header line as a kludge line to messages gated from UUCP to Fido.
Would it be possible to have these X-Comment-To: headers used as the To:
recipient on tossed messages? A lot of the Fido users would like this if
possible.
