you obviously dont work in the real world, a significant number of sites
that i visit, probably 40% or better, use nt especially for mail servers.
a typical customer of mine a medium sized company, they just moved into a 3
storey building of their own, they are the australian branch of a european
company well known in their field. they use 2 hp 9000s running hp-ux (thats
unix for them what dont know) about 300 gig of storage, oracle, and sap to
run their business, a big novelle server for distributed files, and nt
server for mail service. this is not atypical in the medium end of the
computer business. all indications are that nt will slowly erode the unix
market, even hp, currently the biggest purveyor of unix systems in
australia, will offer nt soon, they follow ncr, dec and even (gasp!) ibm.
