       Hello, Bob! Me still!

THAT DID IT! Funny how a very small step could trip me. It
workes as advertised. I went back into the manual and putting two
different steps together, I can now understand the procedure. It never
really specified what to do with MY problem, but you filled in very
nicely. To thank you, I will ask you another one. This is not a test,
honest.... :-)
In that text from the Coast Guard, they make a few references to
a micro-second and write it as " usec ". I would like to change that to
the proper character the greek " miu " for the (u)sec. I went into the
symbol window from INSERT, and found it as " Symbol 109 ". How can I
now place that into the search and replace window ? The search would be
" usec " and the replace " Symbol109 sec ". But you knew that !
I was able to make a macro (?) from the symbol window and got
started in replacing them. There are too many for a manual S & R . I
got spoiled last automn by I seem to remember, Mark Detroia, who showed
me how to get rid of all the paragraph symbols on every lines and
replace them with spaces, but by the same token, retaining the
paragraph format. Can this be done with the " miu " too ? I fancy so
but look to your vast information now.
If I typed " Symbol 109 " in the replace slot, it would do just
that, print " Symbol 109 ". Smart system !
Once more, a large thank you for your time and expertise.
NB: In defence of my ignorance, I had selected the text before, using
the " ALT A " sequence. I guess the " Select Table " in the Table menu
is a different " Select " ???
