BL>> Yair, I know that, but slip/ppp is by far the dominant
BL>> connection, with UUCP linked into that.
PE>> Who does UUCP over slip/ppp? I don't believe that is correct.
BL> Oh shit... I can't remember. In my search of the SPCUG BBS lists I
BL> came across at least two programs that let you pick up UUCP mail using
BL> a SLIP/PPP account. They said things like: "it's cheaper and easy! No
BL> need to set up special accounts..."
Ok, that sounds plausible.
BL> It was during my search of "UCP" rather than
"UPC" (grin). You ought
BL> to give it a go... I can run another search if you like and download
BL> them for you.
No, that's fine.
BL> As far as I understand, ISP's provide an hour-a-day for a dollar or
BL> so, and if you get UUCP they charge you the same for ten minutes! You
BL> save nothing and lose 50 minutes.
Reality is that if you use UUCP you are doing non-stop data transfer. If
you are using a dial-up account you are usually scratching your head.
That's why they don't like UUCP, because the money's made from
head-scratchers. BFN. Paul.
