High! Bob,

I haven't encountered any problems, but this one. I haven't got a clue
as to how the AS/400 executes the STRPCCMD command. Since they are still
using the rather old Release 2.3 of OS/400 (1993) that contains
QPCSUPP(ort) to enable linking with PC's, I guess the software uses
calls for DOS (!?!). Maybe this doesn't work as expected?
BD> Have you tried your template under a normal W95 or NT
 BD> platform environment?
Yep! Can you imagine how I felt: I made a template that worked on my PC,
but when started by the AS/400 it failed. We then started the template
on the target PC directly and it worked. I then noticed that -- instead
of creating a new document -- Word just opened the template. This lead
to the decission to rename AutoNew to AutoOpen and to implement the
other changes; just as work-around.
