I upgraded to Mint 20 "Ulyana" without hesitating. I thought it would be
great, but shortly afterwards I noticed my CD/DVD ROM was no longer working,
and neither was my sound card.
There's a few ways to upgrade - I did it the online way, where there was no
USB or DVD involved. Maybe I messed something up along the way, but ending up
without hardware support was a nasty surprise.
So then I installed the latest version of Ubuntu, and all my hardware is
working again. On top of that, Ubuntu is smoother than it was 10 years ago;
it's got less bloat on the desktop, even less than Mint 19 had.
On a fresh install, Mint has a bunch of quirks that I always needed to hammer
out. But not Ubuntu - it's smooth as can be.
