No versatility?  A PSX CD can hold so much more than a cartridge.  They can't 
make the N64 carts any bigger unless they make their ports bigger and their 
cartridges the size of cereal boxes. Look at the Neo Geo system for instance. 
They sure lasted a long time .  Sony will continue to be the 
leading video game console company for a very long time.   Like they say on 
their commercials "Never Underestimate the Power of PSX!"
