| subject: | IBM Germanium(sp) CPU |
Some of you may already heard about this but I thought I post my comments about what I recently read about IBM making a faster CPU using Germanium (sp?) instead of Silicone for the chip. It suprised me because I remember from the old days that Germanium Transistors were slow compared to Silicone Transistors. The CPUs highest speeds were made when the CPU was supercooled, but there was still a speed advantage of the Germanium (sp?) CPU over the currently fast Silicone CPUs at room temperature. Germanium (sp?) faster than Silicone, that blows my mind! * SLMR 2.1a #T348 * Beat me! Whip me!
