JB>Sorry, Tom. YOU go buy that bright new box, and I'll
JB>pick it up for free whe JB>you're done with it.

TW> Sorry James. You won't live long enough. I have NEVER bought that
TW> "bright new box" you speak of. And never intend to do so.

I underestimated you!

The thing that gets me 'going in the morning,' is finding that CPU, that will
improve on a CPU that I've been tolerating. If I can 'find' it for free, I'll
giggle all the way home. If it works, I LOL!

This kinda tinkering is not for everybody, as my family will be fast to attest
to. The thing to me is, it gives me a reason to exersize my brain, as the body
is not to privy to that any more.

I 'found' a couple of 20-21" monitors a few years ago for rather cheep. Sure,
if I bought one new LCD monitor, I might have saved a hundred bucks on AC power
by now, but I'd have to drop a grand to achieve the same picture, PLUSS I'd
have less resolution choices, and might as well resort to a fixed frequency
CRT.

Nope, I'm saving OODLES of bucks (I'm on disability anyway.) and having PLENTY
of fun on "junk". Like I said, if I hadn't empovrished myself on
new flooring
and car parts, I'd have dropped six bells on a brand new IBM, and achieved a
pretty smokin' system.

A) I don't know if its SATA controller-HD has issues.
B) I know IBMs, as with Compaqs/HP have issues.
C) Linux is my OS of choice, so...
