JE>TW>True but somen programs make it very inconvinent to back up just the JE>TW>data easily. Mostly by Thinking THEY know better where the Data should JE>TW>reside then you the Operator does. I being small potatoes don't have to JE>TW>much data to back up but I have a bat file that drops to DOS and uses JE>TW>XCOPY to copy my most important Data to a Removable drive. JE>Tom, it is a gross mistake to backup JUST the data. Logically, one JE>should back up the entire C: HD. That way, if the C: drive should JE>crater, using TI for the back up program one can restore programs AND JE>data to a new HD. If one only backs up the data and t he C: drives JE>craters then one would have to totally reload all the programs and then JE>install the data. Lots of time consuming work! Actualy one should have TWO backup systems. One to back up the "Data" EVERY time before yuo shut down and the Other to Image the C" drive after soemthing is installed and it proves itself to be working properly. In my case the data is small enough that it still fits on a Zip 100 disk. And I have the Image of my Basic Stable Boot drive on the D Drive. Now of course this the Wordprocessor files and the Checkbook program computer hte Wife basicly uses. I play it very loose with the other Two comuters I play with so I will have soemthing to Gripe About. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
