When POTS service here gives me 33.6 *if* the wind blows the right way; cry me
a river. <-| I was getting consistent 28.8 transfers with the old V.FC if the
line was stretched to my West, but connecting to a node North of me - massive
line noise and dropped carriers. It seems to happen to this day! (Yes, HW
handshaking cable on an external modem. Same machine, same modem, same
settings...)
