| subject: | Carbon-Latex Contacts |
Replying to a message from James Bradley 1:134/77 to All, About Carbon-Latex Contacts, On Fri Apr 07 2006 JB> Is there a contact-improving electrolyte that is used on the contact JB> pads? I understand the acid, and alcohol may have bitched the one JB> remote, but I've a few devices that could use some encouragement. I have used with a modicum of success water, very hot from the tap. First I take the remote apart and run the latex part under the tap and pat dry with a regular towel or scrap of same. The circuit board rubbing alcohol works well, after doing all that I then use a blow dryer to dry the works and reassemble. I got 3 more years out of a TV remote doing this. In a pinch you could try a mild solution of vinegar and water it might work as well. Sugars are deadly to these types of devices. My wife buggered up a keyboard one day by spilling coffee on it, (cream and sugar), dead keyboard. Hope this helps. Keep us posted. We are a fine board trying to make it better. http://www.pris.bc.ca/ghannah ghannah{at}pris.bc.ca Cheers!
