Are you sure of that?  I think it's phosphorus powder that makes the glow.  'course,
phosphorus can kill you too, just not quite as quickly.  My boss is
eventually going to
get into trouble with the DEQ (state EPA) people because he puts dead fluorescent 
tubes in the dumpster - which gets emptied into the landfill.
