There will almost certainly be backward compatibility with the successor to XP programs and data files from the XP genre programs. Same as there was with 98SE to 2000 to XP. I wouldn't think we have too much to worry about. I seriously doubt that one could restore the actual programs from XP to it's successor's equivalent programs.
