JH> Greetings, thanks and best wishes to all here who are veterans of
 JH> military service.

JP> I wish that I could have gone and grab a freebee but too far
JP> and I was sick as two dogs. Just barely surfacing. I got a flu,
JP> pneumonia and all, ran 104o F fever and and the shakes for long
JP> time. Makes me regret TI.

Well, if I may cut in here, a belated thanks from Calgary. I wanted to be
at a celebration, but health too kept me inside that day. It was such a
nice day here, just to spite me. )-:

Regardless, and even though you may have a flag or two to your credit, you
know as well as anyone the value of a deterrent.

JP> Can you perk up my information as to these splitters. I can
JP> see an "IN" and two "OUT"s. Is one of the OUTs
supposed to be for
JP> the Web or does it matter ? One of the splitters that I have show
JP> 3.2 db on the outs. Are they all alike or are there different ones
JP> around ? My cable run will be quite a bit shorter now, from 70' to
JP> 45' and this will benefit the circuit, I presume.

In case we don't hear from Jim, I may be able to illuminate a bit of info I
heard in another fido echo. There are two different types of devices that
will split a co-ax cable signal. They are both akin to a transformer (More
an inductor, but you get the idea?) with a centre tap on the secondary.
(Actually, more like a "star" built, 3 phase transformer IIR, but
that may be a little too much information. B-)

The next one, adds isolation from what I read, but I don't recall exactly
how it differs from the basic model. I hope someone else can pipe in,
because I was meaning to brush up on it myself.

Give me a nudge, and I could look it up, if you wish. In short, the two
legs of output are identical.

... James
