I learnt it's likely a corporate sociopath mentality, that only wants to
shortchange the customer to maximize profits. The same company, is now
presenting a commercial on the TV, that features 'cute' animals, doing human
like activities. A couple of years ago, I received an addressed letter from the
same company saying to the effect, "We're sorry we spent so much money on cute
animal adds, so much that our service to our loyal customers has suffered...
... ..." 

I still have to rely on their infrastructure, but I sure don't have to pay them
directly any more. Maybe I'm just as guilty for feeding the competition, but
where I live, the population seems to think that this is the prosperous way to
go.
