you will just have to Try it. some printers work fine with those USB to Parallel Converters and some don't. In some cases you will also loose the "Back Talk" to the Computer to the printer. Paper out etc. *** JH>My Christmas present was a new Dell Dimension E521. Pretty nice, but JH>uses USB for peripheral devices, including mouse, keyboard, and printer. JH>I do have one printing device here with USB support, but my sweet wife JH>wants it to be over there on _her_ computer. My other printers here all JH>use parallel port. JH>I've found USB to Parallel adapter cables for sale at Ebay fairly JH>reasonably priced. JH>Anything I particularly need to look out for? JH>Will I be able to just hook up one of my parallel port printers to the JH>computer via the cable, and have WinXP-Media center recognize it and the JH>printer work OK? JH>FWIW, my first candidate printers for this are HP Laserjet 4L and 6L. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ Typo Tom Strikes AGAIN!!!* Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 @PATH: 123/140 500 379/1 633/267 |
