DC>> It's 98se.

ml>> 'k... same here... but what version of 4DOS??

DC> 6.01a Is there a newer version of it?

i'm running 4DOS 7.50... i updated to that when we were working with the
DAYBOOT scripts...

DC>>> When shelling into DOS, I can't use Loadhigh.
DC>> It is in dropping into DOS from WIN.

ml>> hunh? do you mean opening a command prompt window??

DC> Yeah, that's it! As I tend to od most in DOS, I call it
 DC> "shelling"!

ahhh... ok... that helps...

of course you can't use loadhigh as at that point, the system has already
loaded everything into high memory that it can... once everything is up and
running, you can't put stuff up there...

DC>> Both let me access the UMBs It's when I click on the WIN
DC>> shortcut that all the UMBs report as "used".

ml>> hunh? click on the WIN shortcut? windows from within windows?

DC> It appears that my querry is now moot, as I found the solution
 DC> to my problem.

 DC> In SYSTEM.INI under [386enh], I add the line " LocalLoadHigh=1"

i saw that... never knew about it and never needed it, really... i don't
like to do mods to the basic installation because then when one has to
rebuild from the ground up, too many things can be missed or forgotten...

DC> All is well and my SWITCHER program LoadsHigh and I can access
DC> the tagline file I wanted to use!
DC> I may just experiment and see if BWAVE386 runs now...

have fun!
