 I don't quite get what you're saying. A DCC is still "sequential". Maybe
 you can prorgam it to play the tracks in a specified order, but the seek
 times are going to be much longer than a CD. Both CD and Minidisc are FAR
 closer to having "random access" than any tape format, digital or analog.

 I've never even /seen/ a DCC player, or tape. Have they ever been marketed
 in the U.S. at all? I don't think so, though I admit there was a while in
 the early 90's when I didn't follow such things. A bit surprising, given
 that they are (semi) backwards compatible with analog Compact Cassettes.
 That would've seemed to have guaranteed that they'd be more popular than
 DAT.. but then DAT hasn't exactly been a resounding success.  ;-)
