At the moment I want the freebsd box to be the one that calls' the isp when
required. I will be setting it up to so that it's a gateway/ip masquerading
for the os/2-win95 machines to have full access to the net... I do plan on
getting a 24/7 connect and I'l lbe setting up the freebsd machine as a
router etc...

Done all that now... The kernel's down from the 1.4mb generic kernel to my
custom one at 780K...

Re: the cdrom...

It's the freebsd install disk's. Os/2 barfed on the install of the
port's/packages section (I was usding os/2 as a FTP server for the freebsd
cdrom) , so I got a lend of a scsi cdrom drive. I've compiled the cdrom
support into the kernel. Now it's just a matter of getting it mounted. When
I boot the machine, it's finding the devices attached to the scsi card
(sd0/cd0), but when the mounting of the rom happens the system give's a
error that the line with the cdrom in the fstab file is 'fsbtab:
/etc/fstab:5: Inappropriate file type or format'

the fstab file is:

#Device Mountpoint FStype Options Dump Pass#
/dev/sd0s2b none swap sw 0 0
/dev/sd0a / ufs rw 1 1
/dev/sd0s3e /usr ufs rw 1 1
/dev/cd0 /cdrom isofs r 1 1
proc /proc procfs rw 0 0
