It may be worth mentioning that one of those who has "parted company"
is Eric Smith - author of MiNT, who was hired by Atari to work on MultiTOS.
I've talked with Eric (err emailed him) and he still intends to support
MiNT.
There are also about 3 or so GEM clones coming up real soon now that use
MiNT for all IPC. One is from the author of WinX and allows you to
change the RSC files for things like Windows and Alerts and such, and
allows new programming features such as callbacks (I think this one
will be shareware). Another one will put all GEM commands through pipes
so that GEM will be 'streamed' - so that buffering will speed up a
CPU hindred machine that is busy doing many tasks at once - this once will
have source code.
A socket vbased GEM should be available soon too! I can't wait to use PERL's
socket interface for GEM programming. I love PERL.
