Sooner or later it will come down to two options. 1) He re-signs with the
T-Wolves and everything is back to normal. 2) He still wants more, and we
trade him for about...oh...5-6 players on any given team. And all of them
combined make his salary.
The Wolves recent payroll is $26 million. Say we give $22 million a year
to Garnett. Right now Gugliotta is making $5 million a year, and Terry
Porter $2 million. Just singing those three players puts us over the
payroll. We still have to re-sign Center Dean Garrett, and he wants $2-$3
mill a year. Plus, after this season we will have to re-sign Stephon
Marbury.
It's a given fact. When you can't re-sign everyone, you trade the player
that makes the most, and find a replacment for half the cost.
All-in-all if he is not re-signed by the time the season starts, kiss him
good-bye. He will be headed out west to the SUNS, or up north to the
RAPTORS. Either one, it doesn't matter as long as we get a good replacment.
I can see Marcus Camby coming over here and starting and soing a fine job.
Plus he cost about $5 million a season, thats $12 million more the Wolves
have to re-sign Gugliotta and Marbury to $6 mill a year.
I like Garnett a lot, but not at the price he wants.
